In selecting English-language materials on the Kaluga region I had in mind an independent traveller who knows what he/she wants. Thus I will skip or will speak but very briefly about standard tourists attractions. I will, however, try to document how to get to each destination listed here or where to stay. I will also share the overall impression of each place should one form in my mind. With one exception, photos are intended to convey the character of each place rather than to entice you there.

Contributions of materials, especially if they are ready to be added to this site, are greatly welcomed. Leave your info in my Guestbook or send it to me.

The hidden agenda is to draw your attention to the villages of Svetlitsy (Babynino district) and Koptsevo (Meshevsk district) which can be best done by presenting the Kaluga region as a whole. Also, I, the webmaster of this site, can be hired to act as your agent in Kaluga and the region. In the past I've assisted my clients, from Russian wife seekers to journalists and TV crews, into penetrating "the real Russia", mostly in Moscow and in Tver region. Now, as this project progresses, I hope to be able to offers similar services in Kaluga.
