An authentic old Russian town of churches and monasteries in a state of glorious decay. About ......km from the Moscow to Kiev road. Total distance from Kaluga is 85km.  A quiet place. The nearest railroad station, Kudrinskaya, is 21km from the city.

No hotel at the time of writing this but the old guesthouse is being restores as part of preparation to the expected touristy boom. Meshevsk is 20km from the village of Koptsevo, part of the www.svetlitsy.ru project, and the Svetlitsy people too may soon be also able to receive tourists.
